Independence Through Accessibility
Amanda Meyer is a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, CATIS candidate, and assistive technology instructor with experience supporting Pre-K through 12 students and adults with visual impairments across educational, vocational, and community-based settings. Her work focuses on increasing access, independence, and meaningful participation through individualized instruction, collaborative planning, and practical assistive technology solutions.
Amanda’s background includes instruction in UEB Braille, Nemeth Code, screen readers, screen magnification, low vision tools, digital accessibility, and other Expanded Core Curriculum skills. She has conducted Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments, developed access-focused IEPs, provided staff training, and partnered with families and related service providers to support student growth across school and community environments.
Drawing from experience in public schools, vocational transition programs, and remote assistive technology instruction, Amanda is committed to helping individuals with visual impairments build confidence, self-advocacy, and lifelong independence. Her approach emphasizes equitable access, purposeful instruction, and the use of tools and strategies that help learners participate fully in academics, employment, and daily life.
